3 Months Old And Loving It

As mentioned before, Elliot turned 3 months old on Tuesday. It is amazing how the third month really marks a baby! She coos and smiles all day long, well except for when she's hungry, then she screams like a banshee. Elliot is so incredibly sweet when she wakes up in the morning. What could be better than a big smile and little giggle to say "good morning" ?! Elliot is learning to enjoy the world beyond Mommy's arms. She enjoys her little gym in the afternoons and the bouncy seat in the bathroom while I take a shower. However, held by Mommy while being entertained by Daddy is how she would prefer to spend her days. Tim has a special way of lighting her up with joy and scareing the crap out of her. We recently discovered that she is not ready for Tim's extreme facial expressions during peek-a-boo.

At 3 months, Elliot is even more long and lean. I took her to the dr today because I was concerned about her weight gain. She gets only breast milk, unless I've had wine with dinner then she gets one bottle of formula. We discovered that she is 24 in long (80th percentile) and 10.4 lbs (10th percentile). Of course being on two extremes concerned me, but our wonderful pediatrician put me at ease. She said that Elliot is healthy and strong in every way, and this month she just devoted all her growing to her length. She also said that it is better and healthier for babies to be long and lean rather than too fat. So with a great sigh of relief, I let go of my worries to make room for the new ones I'm sure will arise soon :)

A big milestone for Elliot is her sleeping. Our good girl is now sleeping...drum role please...7 hours straight at night! Getting my first good night of sleep was like drinking the first glass of good wine after being pregnant, I didn't know how much I missed it! Her sleep schedule is not solid yet, but hey we're working on it. I feed her, rock her, and put her down around 8-8:30 pm. Then Tim and I get the sacred adult time until 10:30-11pm when we go to sleep. Baby girl usually wakes back up for a feed around 3:30 am and then 6:30 am. So we're down to one feed during the night, which I have a feeling might phase out as soon as she gains more weight.

Thank you for reading my long blog entree this week, here's your reward:

While you wait...

Elliot turned 3 months yesterday! We go to the dr tomorrow to get her stats. So hopefully I'll have her 3 month pics up afterward. While you wait for those, here are some recent pictures of our precious baby girl.

Tim and Elliot enjoy discussing their days and current events.

Elliot loves to "talk"to Tim and I. She's a good girl and doesn't talk to strangers...or family friends. She's a little shy. Here she is saying her standard "Ah-goo."
She had enough talking and wanted her paci.

First Mother's Day!

I had a WONDERFUL first Mother's Day! Tim surprised me with a clean kitchen and a yummy breakfast of mimosas, coffee, cinnamon rolls, and eggs... all of my favorite breakfast foods. After I devoured everything, I opened cards and gifts.Tim and Elliot got me a box of delicious petit fours and a Willow Tree figurine. I sent Tim the link of the figurine, as a subtle hint, a few weeks before. It is of a mother and child in a rocker underneath a quilt. I adore it because it reminds me of when I rock Elliot to sleep twice a night :)
After I took a nice long shower, which was also a gift, we got ready and headed out for lunch. I received gift cards to The Cheesecake Factory from my class, so I thought Mother's Day was the perfect time to put them to use. I'm not a fan of their huge portions, but I love their desserts. Apparently, everyone in Arlington had the same idea because the place was packed! Tim and I dinned on cocktails and salads, and of course got some cheesecake to go. As she normally does, Elliot woke up midway through lunch and did not appreciate being in the carrier. But a quick bottle from Mom put her at ease. The Reynolds girls love their beverages :)
Thank you to my amazing husband and beautiful baby for a memorable Mother's Day! Love you!

Since I know most of you read this blog to see pictures of Elliot, here are some fun ones from the week...

Going for a walk with Daddy. Tim bought her this adorable sun hat. It's a little big, but it does the job. Elliot got lots of compliments that day!

What a look?! Elliot has already mastered the art of the "Are you kidding me?!" eyebrow lift. That's my girl!!

Week of Events!

Last week was filled with exciting events! Elliot is growing and developing so much it boggles my mind! It is fun to discover new things about my daughter that give me more of an insight to who she is. Right now she is smiling and cooing all the time (of course though not in front of other people). She loves when you making kissing sounds and raspberries. She is on the brink of a real laugh, and I can hardly wait! Elliot is still pretty strong and stands up with ease. Tim helps her practice walking every chance he gets. I know she's a long way off, but I'm not a big fan of this little girl walking before she crawls...
Then as the week developed, we found out that my cousin Sam, proposed to his girlfriend Jenny! He popped the question in Mexico, at the same resort Tim and I went to for our honeymoon. We are so excited for them and that she's joining the family :) She is so sweet and even made us a big lasagna dinner when Elliot was born. Well done Sam!

Then, I spent Friday morning watching the Royal Wedding. Although I was up early with Elliot that morning, I decided to dvr the day's festivities. So at 9 am, I settled into the couch with coffee in one hand, the remote in the other, and my little princess in my lap. I soaked in every moment, except some of the cheesy commentary which I fast forwarded through. I thought everyone looked amazing! William was so excited and cute, while Kate was calm and stunning. After the wedding, I watched every tv special I could find. I didn't want the day to end (a tad pathetic I know). From my couch in Virginia, I wish the new royal couple the best!
On Saturday, we went on a winery tour for Jenny's birthday. This meant being away from my baby for almost 8 hours! It was a big step, but I knew I could do it. It helped to know that she was safe at home with my Aunt Nancy. I was a little sad as we drove away from the house, but I was really excited to spend the day with my hubby. Tim and I had a blast! It is funny how wine quickly calms a new mom's nerves...
